Common Types of cancer With Statistics

Cancerous diseases have become so common that almost all people have come across or heard someone affected. Although cancer is a killer disease, early diagnosis and treatment from a good cancer treatment center Orange County-based or any other location can save a life. The problem is most people discover they have cancer when it’s too late. Either way, it’s important to be aware of the common cancers and their symptoms so you can be on the lookout. Below are the most common types briefly explained.

Breast cancer

Breast cancer commonly occurs in women and rarely in men. According to American statistics, 268,600 women and 2,670 were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 alone. About 41,760 women and 500 men were projected to die out of this disease during the same year.

Symptoms include:

A lump in the breast

Discharge from the nipples

Change of nipple texture and shape.

Painful nipples

The common treatment for breast cancer is surgery.

According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the symptoms of lung cancer include:

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer occurs in the prostate and is the second leading cause of cancer death. The prostate is the part that works with sperm cells in a man to create seminal fluid, and its muscles help push the semen out during penile ejaculation. About 1 in 8 men is prone to prostate cancer during their lifetime. The death rate is about 18 per 100,000 men per year.

When cancer affects the prostate, symptoms may include:

Pain during urination

Note: According to the CDC, some men do not have symptoms.

This is not a conclusive list of all the common types of cancer. Other types include cervical, liver cancer, kidney, head and neck, colon, leukemia, and thyroid cancer, among others. Regardless of the type of cancer, the best way to treat it starts with an early diagnosis.
