Which is why for this round of recommendations, we’ve come up with a list of what are going to be your top fragrances in 2021. The Dior Sauvage Dossier.Co has a Dior’s highly successful fragrance line perfume.

The history of perfume:

The earliest records of perfume are found in papyrus scrolls dating back 4000 years ago. Perfumery was considered an art and was used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Indians. This is not surprising as these empires were known for their sophisticated knowledge in much of anything from technology to literature.

How do you choose a perfume?:

To make the perfect perfume, start with a list of the qualities you are seeking in your fragrance. Is it subtle? Does it lend itself to long lasting longevity? What about sillage (how much does it last after two hours)

It is also important to remember that you can’t always get what you want or expect from perfumes. Perfumery takes hundreds of years of trial and error to perfect and there are always those that don’t turn out like you want them. This is why there are so many fragrances on the market today!

Much like choosing a perfume, picking out a body lotion (or any skin product) is also dependent upon what your specific needs are as well as your desires.

How do you apply perfume?:

There are two rules to remember when applying perfume:

When applying a perfume, spray it in a sweeping motion, not directly on your skin. This will cause the heat of your body to warm up the notes in the fragrance and allow it to come alive as you wear it. Also, don’t blot – (buffing with a bit of tissue) or rub against your skin as this disturbs the scent molecules that have settled there and causes it to disperse more quickly.

Cologne is usually applied directly to clean, dry skin; lotion is usually applied after bathing while the pores are still open.

What are the different perfume types, based on concentration?:

Fragrance is classified by concentration, as well as its composition. There are four levels of fragrance concentration: Parfum (15-40% perfume oil), Eau de parfum (8-20%), Eau de toilette (3-15%) and Edp(1-5%). The less concentrated a perfume is, the lighter and more airy it will be.

The rule of thumb is that if you are looking for longevity, you should use an EdP or Parfum on your pulse points. If you want a lighter, fresher scent or if you’re trying to save money on your fragrance purchase, an Eau de parfum or EdT works just fine.

What should I keep in mind while using perfume?:

Understand that perfume is a personal choice and not everyone will be able to tolerate the same fragrance.Smell your skin after you have applied it. A fragrance will smell different on your skin then on the perfume testers.Perfume should have an ingredient list on the packaging. Make sure to read this before purchasing anything too expensive or before something that if you are allergic or sensitive to any type of fragrances.

Make your own perfume:

You will need a few ingredients, the most important being a carrier oil. The carrier oil can be any vegetable oil such as almond, jojoba and/or olive oil. Take 1/4 ounce of your desired essential oils and add to 1/2 cup of carrier oil. Mix well and put in a small container for use.

Use this perfume on it own or mix with another fragrance for something that reflects you more accurately.A popular method of creating your own scent is to mix complementary scents together, much like balancing the colors in a painting to create the right hue or shade.

How do you choose a perfume?:

Start by familiarizing yourself with the different notes that compose a fragrance.

The top note is what you smell when you first apply the perfume. The middle note is the one you’ll smell after it’s been on your skin for a while and the base note is what lingers on the skin after you’ve washed it off.Look at all the different ingredients in fragrances and find one with just a few ingredients that are also natural and safe to use. A high concentration of chemicals can irritate your skin and be irritating to others as well.

These include:

Lavender, Tea Tree Oil, Rosemary Oil, Peppermint, Cinnamon, Geranium Oil, Lemongrass, and Lemon Myrtle among others.
