We asked FSBO sellers why they were selling on their own, and these are some of the most common responses: 49 percent wanted to save money, 35 percent believed they could sell without the help of an agent, realtor, or broker, and 34 percent knew someone who may be interested.

What exactly does “for sale by owner” imply?

When a homeowner lists their home without the help of a professional real estate agent, it is known as for sale by owner (FSBO). When you sell your home on your own, you’re in charge of the entire process, including pricing, staging, listing, negotiating, preparing paperwork, and closing.

What are the advantages of selling FSBO?

Most sellers choose to go in alone to avoid paying the typical 6% commission fee to the real estate agents engaged in the transaction. While most FSBO sellers want to keep as much of their profit as possible, it’s worth noting that a local real estate agent is likely to be more knowledgeable about pricing strategy, so your net profit from an FSBO may be smaller than if you listed with an agent.

1. You’ll save money on commissions: The most typical argument for going FSBO is to save money on commissions, fees paid to agents depending on the home’s final selling price.
